With a healthy blend of red and blue trails, Gortin’s natural inclination towards hills means riders will earn those epic views, and more importantly, over 14km of smooth flowy sections ideal for those looking to shred at speed or just get an epic introduction to the world of mountain biking.

With views from the top of Mullaghcarn and Ladies Viewpoint, you can be assured of the best seat in the house to enjoy the Sperrins.

Gortin

The village of Gortin lies about 10miles (16km) North of Omagh and is a unique undiscovered hideaway, full of charm, nestling in the Owenkillew River Valley at foothills of the Sperrin Mountains. The village has a welcoming atmosphere with a choice of pubs, most of which have live music at the weekends, restaurants, and shops to cater for all your needs. It is also the ideal point for starting to explore the surrounding hills and glens.

Omagh Town

Omagh has been a market town, a garrison town, and the County town of Tyrone since 1768. The town is made up of a good mix of independent retailers and high street brands as well as fantastic coffee shops, restaurants, and bars.

While in town why not take the opportunity to walk the towns Historic Town Trail, a 35min self-guided walk that will take you past the main sights and important landmarks of the town. Free route maps are available from at the Visitor Information Centre in Omagh town (located inside The Strule Arts Centre)..

Sperrins Scenic Routes

The Sperrins - an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - are Northern Irelands most extensive mountain range and can be explored via a series of scenic touring routes. There are 4 to choose from, North (50miles/80km), Central (90miles/145km), East (63 miles/101km) and South (64 miles/103km). Each route represents an opportunity to become immersed in an environment millions of years in the making and steeped in myth and legend. Pick up a free copy of the Sperrincs Scenic Touring Routes publication at the Visitor Information Centre in Omagh town (located inside The Strule Arts Centre).
